Naloxone Laws Map by State

To date, twenty six states have passed legislation regarding the Administration of Naltrexone (see table below) despite the epidemic mortality rate from opioid overdoses. We at Chooper's Guide are committed to providing information that will elevate the public awareness of issues and solutions that will save lives and to that end strongly endorse Naloxone as a safe and effective prevention strategy to reduce the fatalities resulting from Opioid Overdoses. Both founders are alive today because of Naloxone (Narcan).  Please take time to learn more about this safe, life saving drug and if your state does not have an Naltrexone Administration law enacted, please take a moment to contact your legislators

Statement from White House Drug Policy Director on the Food and Drug Administration’s Public Hearing Regarding the Role of Naloxone in Opioid Overdose Fatality Prevention

April 12, 2012 (Washington, D.C.)  Today, Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, released the following statement:

“On behalf of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, I would like to thank everyone working on the important issue of overdose fatality prevention.  In 2010, the Obama Administration released its inaugural National Drug Control Strategy, which recognizes the important role naloxone can play in reversing drug overdoses.  With more people dying from unintentional drug overdoses than car accidents, it is vitally important that we do what is necessary to prevent drug abuse, while also preventing drug overdoses and getting people the treatment they need.  I look forward to continuing this important conversation and continuing to support evidenced-based ways to protect public health and safety and prevent overdoses.”
