Program Narrative

Freehab, as the name suggests, is a free, residential, 12-step drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Although it is unique on two counts: No client is charged for treatment and at any one time, we have 200 addicts and alcoholics, it is this aside, a traditional “no frills, no nonsense” treatment facility run according to the principles, steps and traditions of 12 step fellowships.

Freehab Building Homeless Beggar

What we do and how we do it:

We provide “ street to employment” services for those who need it most: the homeless, the disposed, and the socially ignored.  We offer round the clock observation from our professional team and trained volunteers. This is a rigorous, regimented, honest and loving program given freely according to need, not ability to pay.  Freehab’s priority is on Transitional Age Youth (18-24).   Every year 25,000 kids age out of of foster care.   Emancipated foster youth and at risk homeless youth account for a good portion of the 500,000 homeless young adults in America.   Many suffer from PTSD, have no parental support and have not graduated high school.

Freehab provides free food, shelter, high school equivalency obtainment, trade certifications and job referrals.  A full life transformation.

There only requirement is a desire to change.

The problem – No way out:

One of the most common reasons for not getting help. “I was unable to afford treatment” (38%) – Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Agency : Jan 2012

34.7% of all sheltered adults who were homeless had chronic substance use issues – Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Agency : Jan 2012

Employment serves as a means of re-socialization, allowing for integration into the straight world. Two in five prisoners and jail inmates lack a high school diploma or equivalent. National Study – US Justice Department, Second Act.

Homeless man found dead struggled with alcoholism, had asked to stay in prison – Lacrossetribune.com: Dec 2012

Our methodology treat and train

Located in Los Angeles Freehab is a 3-6 month program that requires commitment, dedication and abstinence from those who want it.

The price of treatment will cost many their lives. We believe we are responsible. Only with a loving hand is there hope. Freehab is that hand. - Russell Brand
