Program Narrative
Methadone hydrochloride is a synthetic "opioid agonist." When used in proper doses as part of a medically supervised opioid addiction treatment program, methadone blocks cravings and other withdrawal symptoms without creating the euphoric or sedative states that result from opioid abuse. (Suboxone)Buprenorphine is a partial opioid receptor agonist. Like methadone, buprenorphine relieves opioid withdrawal symptoms without producing the intoxicating effects that are associated with opioid abuse.
