Program Description

For some individuals with alcoholism or drug addiction, the appropriate treatment option is our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The Care Addiction Treatment Program conveniently offers either day or evening sessions of IOP held over a six-week period in our Geneva office.

Treatment includes individual counseling, small group discussion, 12-step program philosophy, and educational lectures. The format allows clients to explore personal issues which contribute to their addiction and to develop strategies to prevent a relapse. Topics covered include:

• Stages of Change and Recovery
• Denial and Emotional Defenses
• Self-Esteem and Addiction
• Stress Management
• Identifying and Calming Triggers
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – Distorted Thinking and Triggers
• Gratitude and Acceptance
• Grief and Loss in the Context of Substance Abuse
• Goal Setting in Early Recovery
• Cross Addiction
• Common Symptoms Leading up to a Relapse
• Relapse Prevention Planning

Family members are included in weekly Family Groups covering sessions on:

• Disease Concept and Disease Progression
• Family Systems
• Co-Dependency and Enabling

The intensive outpatient program at Care Addiction Treatment Program is ideal for those individuals who may not require residential treatment, allowing them to continue living at home while maintaining their work and school schedules.
