Program Description

Our Mission

Borden Cottage is fully committed to helping individuals enhance their motivation for change to develop sufficient coping skills and support systems to achieve and maintain abstinence from substance use, and to manage their co-occurring disorders. With a focus on early recovery, relapse prevention, and acute psychiatric stabilization, our mission is to help individuals reclaim a sense of self-worth and learn to develop a healthy and active lifestyle without returning to substance use. We are inspired by the people we serve, and we will work tirelessly to provide the highest quality care that sets the standard for mental health and addiction treatment.

Borden Cottage is prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, religious or political belief

Borden Cottage provides a treatment approach that takes a whole person perspective and ensures that Borden residents have a 30-60-90-day opportunity to make changes that lead to recovery. The whole person perspective helps our clients to acquire new skills, lifestyle and support systems that remove the need for substances as a coping skill.

What We Do

Whole person treatment includes a program of recovery skills, medication management, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art and music therapy, mindfulness, fitness, nutrition, lifestyle and wellness opportunities. Our clients have access to specialized treatment and wellness including TMS, neuropsychological testing, outdoor adventure, and massage.

Who We Are

Our clinical team is led by a very experienced psychiatrist who assesses, monitors and oversees medication and treatment needs. Our clinical team is comprised of therapists who provide individualized treatment and lead groups in addiction treatment and mental health monitoring and stabilization. Clients are seen individually at least 3 times per week and more if needed. They attend small groups daily. Nursing staff interact with clients every day to ensure that medication, health and wellness needs are met, and clients are supported as they improve and engage in a healthier lifestyle. Program staff are available to clients who wish to attend community meetings, need recovery skills, guidance and provide support round the clock.

What our Approach Brings

When a client is struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression or is dealing with stress and significant life challenges, it is not uncommon to self-medicate with alcohol or substances to avoid the discomfort that these challenges bring. For some this leads to an addiction or a mental health challenge that becomes a significant problem of its own. The whole person approach at Borden not only gives our clients the opportunity to learn new skills to manage in a serene and peaceful setting, it also helps them to find a new lifestyle that is so vibrant and rewarding that they thrive without self-medicating or substance abuse. Borden brings the possibility of a life lived fully without chaos, upheaval, judgement or regrets. We work with our clients to help them to stop using and start the path to a life that is more meaningful, healthier and rewarding.
