Description of Event:
In this interactive workshop, participants will gain practical tips and tools for integration of evidence-based therapies into everyday clinical practice with clients. Using the latest research and clinical work in CBT this workshop will examine interventions for multiple issues encountered in clinical practice including anxiety, depression, trauma, and family turmoil at various stages of the lifespan. Participants will learn how to establish a therapeutic relationship, conceptualize client difficulties, and develop a treatment plan based on the conceptualization. Furthermore, the workshop will focus on using cognitive and behavioral strategies to motivate clients to modify their maladaptive thinking and behavior in and out of session. Practitioners assisting both individuals and families will benefit immensely from discovering interventions that are most effective at producing meaningful change.
Currently, an estimated 16 million adults in the United States suffer from depression. Pharmacology treatment alone has resulted in limited success and unfortunate side-effects. A growing body of research has highlighted the vast applicability of cognitive-behavior therapies (CBT) in multiple clinical settings with some of the highest success rates of any mental health modality. Understanding the fundamentals of CBT and how to apply cognitive and behavioral strategies to successfully work with clients is an essential component of effective clinical work. Learning effective methods to teach your client why they think and feel a certain way is the first step of training them to overcome negativity and gain optimism in any situation.
