The The addiction profession is evolving quickly, especially with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It is extremely important for addiction professionals to stay abreast of recent developments and potential changes to the profession, as well as stay informed about how your practice might be affected. This webinar will discuss the new national scopes of practice for the addiction profession and the importance of maintaining your license or credential in the wake of the ACA implementation. At the end of the live presentation, participants will be able to ask questions of the presenters and receive immediate answers. Learning Objectives: As a result of participating in this webinar, you will: * Learn about the new national scopes of practice for the addiction profession; * Understand the importance of maintaining your license or credential; and * Learn about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and how it impacts the addiction profession. Presenters: Don Osborn Donald P. Osborn, MAC, ICAC, CCS, is the current President of NAADAC, Director and Professor of Graduate Addictions and Executive Director of the Addictions Studies Center at Indiana Wesleyan University. Previously he has served two terms as the NAADAC Mid-Central Regional Vice President and served as board member and state president of Indiana Osborn has been involved in the area of behavioral and social sciences for over thirty years. His professional experience includes positions as minister, clinician, clinical supervisor, program director and administrator. Shirley Beckett Mikell Shirley Beckett Mikell is the Director of Certification and Education of NAADAC and has worked in the addiction profession for over 33 years. She began as a counselor in Charleston, South Carolina, where she also served as trainer, manager and mentor for fellow addiction professionals. Beckett Mikell is particularly skilled in the areas of ethics, confidentiality and group and individual counseling skills. On behalf of NAADAC, she has provided training to addiction professionals throughout the world and she continues to advise programs in countries such as Cyprus, Egypt and Iceland. Chris Campbell Christopher C. Campbell serves as the Director of Government Relations for NAADAC, the Association of Addiction Professionals. He is responsible for ensuring the public policy concerns most important to the addiction professional community - especially insurance parity, federal treatment grants and workforce development - are heard and addressed by policymakers in Washington, D.C. He also will be responsible for building relationships with other Washington-based organizations concerned with addictions policy, aiding the NAADAC Public Policy and Political Action Committees and organizing NAADAC's annual Advocacy in Action conference.
