Faces & Voices of Recovery is conducting a Statewide Community Forum in Delray Beach, Florida on Saturday, March 5, 2011 to address discrimination against people in or seeking long-term recovery from addiction. The forum will be conducted in an open dialogue/town hall meeting format.
Every day, Florida residents face obstacles and barriers that prevent or inhibit their chances to achieve long-term recovery from addiction. We’d like to hear about your experiences – and those of your friends, neighbors, colleagues, and constituents – with discriminatory policies, negative attitudes, and other barriers to sustained recovery. We also encourage people to speak out about policies and programs that have had a positive impact on sustained recovery.
Topics covered will include:
*Housing and homelessness
*Employment
*Re-entry and criminal justice issues
*Education
*Family reunification
*Public understanding of recovery
We are seeking attendees and potential speakers who are:
* Members of the organized recovery community (including individuals in long-term recovery from addiction and co-occurring disorders, family members, and allies.)
* Treatment and recovery support service providers
* Experts in addiction, mental health, and co-occurring recovery
* Policymakers
* Business leaders
* Representatives from other services (e.g., criminal justice, child welfare, social services, primary care, etc.)
Co-sponsors for the forum include Delray Recovery Center, Floridians for Recovery, intherooms.com, and Southern Coast ATTC.
We look forward to hearing from you. Join us!
