Conference Overview:
The conference will highlight best practices and emerging trends in recovery and medication assisted treatment (MAT) by bringing together diverse groups to explore ways to maximize our efforts at promoting recovery from addiction. Likely to be a national event in scope and impact, several experts in MAT, Recovery, Criminal Justice and Behavioral Healthcare have been invited to present. Also, several regional providers/organizations will be invited to feature model programs and practices. Confirmed conference partners/supporters are the CT DMHAS, the CT DOC, CT NASW, NADCP, SAMHSA, and NIDA with many other organizations likely to join. Efforts are also ongoing to reach out to ASAM, AAAP and other medical/nursing professionals interested in MAT.
Conference Objectives:
Feature emerging trends in recovery from and treatment of substance use disorders
Highlight best practices in promoting recovery by featuring model programs and effective (or promising) science/research-based interventions
Provide information about effective medication assisted treatment options
Identify strategies to build recovery-oriented systems of care
Present models of collaboration between multiple systems of care within behavioral healthcare and the criminal justice system
Challenge the stigma related to addiction, recovery and medication assisted treatment
Feature policy and leadership issues related to medication assisted treatment, recovery and behavioral healthcare
Provide tools, resources and strategies that participants can utilize to implement effective practices within their specific settings
