Sponsored by Faces & Voices of Recovery and the Hazelden Foundation’s Center for Public Advocacy, the event features the extraordinary contributions of the country’s most influential recovery community leaders to the nationwide effort to promote the reality of recovery from addiction. Leaders in business, government, and the media will also participate.
America Honors Recovery salutes the legacies of two dynamic recovery trailblazers who dedicated their lives to removing barriers for those individuals and families affected by addiction: Johnson Institute founder, Dr. Vernon E. Johnson, and recovery advocate, Joel Hernandez.
The event will feature the bestowing of the Vernon Johnson award on three individuals who have put a public face and voice on recovery. They have forged major breakthroughs in systems, programs or practices to remove barriers to recovery.
The Joel Hernandez Award will be given to one outstanding local, state or regional recovery community organization for its success in mobilizing resources within and outside the recovery community to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
The event will also acknowledge the significant contributions of the U.S. Congressional Addiction, Treatment and Recovery Caucus. The Caucus has been a vital forum to inform, educate and raise awareness about addiction and recovery in the U.S. Congress.
We look forward to seeing you there!
