Drug War - Law Enforcement Drug Arrest Data
It does not take a Nobel Laureate in Economics to understand from a law enforcement perspective why the Drug War has and will continue to fail. The statistics provided in the table below clearly illustrate how drug enforcement policy has escalated and contibuted to the sustainability of this ill conceived, economically motivated 40 yer event affectionately referred to asthe Drug War. Failure is an understatement. One might ask why. We believe that the answer is purely economic. Simply follow the money. The United States is the proud host to 25% of the worlds prison population. Addiction treatment and incarceration of drug offenders has become a multi-billion dollar industry that has hijacked our legislative and criminal justice systems and spawned a new sociopathtic economy. In essence, the black market has merged with our capital markets.
Marijuana comprised 51.38 percent of all Drug Possesion arrests and 33.15% of Drug Arrests for Sales and Manufacturing. Total Marijuana arrests for both offense classifications was 48.3%. All other drug classifications constituted 48.30% of Drug Possession offenses and 51.7% for both offense classifications.
The data below indicate that enforcement dollars for drug offenses are spent on the drug (marijuana) that poses the least detrimental effects to the individual and society according to scientific research data.
