Program Description

Nasal Narcan Overdose Reversal Program

Manet Community Health Center is addressing the growing problem of opioid overdoses in South Shore communities with a free program to distribute a drug that has the potential to reverse overdoses and save lives. Manet’s effort is part of a pilot initiative by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Opioid Prevention and Reversal Project.

Manet has a team of prevention Specilaists that distributes nasal naloxone (Narcan)—known as the anti-overdose drug—and trains area residents in its use on a daily basis by walk-in or appointment (call 857-939-4108). Anyone can receive the free training, whether or not they are a Manet patient. Evening hours are available.

The free training includes how to recognize an overdose, perform rescue breathing, and use the nasal spray. After the training Kits are given free of charge.

Walk in hours at our health center locations are the following:

Mondays- 4-7pm 110 West Squantum Street, North Quincy, MA

Tuesdays 8am-4pm, Houghs Neck, 1193 Sea Street, Quincy, MA

Wednesday 8am-2pm, Quincy Medical Center, 114 Whitwell Street, Quincy, MA

2nd & 4th Wednesday 4-7pm, 180 George Washington Blvd. Hull , MA

Or call for an appointmetn 857-939-4108

Manet's Prevention Specialists also conduct street outreach in higher-risk areas of Quincy, Weymouth and Hull, traveling with Narcan kits to train and distribute as needed. Manet collaborates with various community Narcan partners in this initiative, including Quincy and Weymouth public safety, Bay State Community Services, Father Bill's and MainSpring, and South Shore Hospital.

The nasal Narcan program is funded by Manet’s Prevention, Screening, and Referral Services contract with the DPH Bureau of Infectious Disease, Office of HIV/AIDS.
