PAC donations are a unique advocacy tool that helps make your voice--the voice of addiction professional--heard on Capitol Hill. The PAC supports members of Congress who champion addiction services and addiction professionals. However, NAADAC PAC is only as effective as the support it receives from members. At the end of the live presentation, participants will be able to ask questions of the presenters and receive immediate answers. The training will focus on: * The importance of the NAADAC PAC, and * Ways that NAADAC members can become more active and effective addiction policy advocates by contributing to the PAC. Presenters: Gerry Schmidt Gerry Schmidt is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Valley HealthCare System in Morgantown, WV, and the Chair of NAADAC’s Public Policy Committee. He has been in the addictions treatment field for nearly 40 years and has served in various capacities with NAADAC. He served on and chaired the NAADAC Certification Committee, is the current Chair of the Public Policy Committee and serves as NAADAC's Clinical Affairs Consultant. Gerry has been active over the past 5 years in the development and implementation of several of NAADAC's Life Long Learning Series of trainings. He is active both nationally and within West Virginia in legislative advocacy. Chris Campbell Christopher Campbell serves as the Director of Government Relations for NAADAC, the Association of Addiction Professionals. He is responsible for ensuring the public policy concerns most important to the addiction professional community - especially insurance parity, federal treatment grants and workforce development - are heard and addressed by policymakers in Washington, D.C. He also will be responsible for building relationships with other Washington-based organizations concerned with addictions policy, aiding the NAADAC Public Policy and Political Action Committees and organizing NAADAC's annual Advocacy in Action conference.
