Description

 Lisbon Addictions 2015 Conference

The First European conference on addictive behaviours and dependencies will be held in Lisbon on 23–25 September 2015.

This will be a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary event, showcasing leading European addiction research in the specialist areas of illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gambling and other addictive behaviours. It will address new challenges and cover developing fields such as new psychoactive substances, online sales and gambling, cannabis legalisation and alcohol pricing.

This conference will provide a unique networking opportunity for researchers, practitioners and policy experts across countries and disciplines to discuss latest findings on the prevention, treatment and control of addiction. It is the ideal venue to forge collaborative partnerships and explore funding opportunities.

This conference is jointly organised by the Portuguese General Directorate for Intervention on Addictive Behaviours and Dependencies (Serviço de Intervenção nos Comportamentos Aditivos e nas Dependências — SICAD), the journal Addiction, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and the International Society of Addiction Journal Editors (ISAJE). It will take place at the FIL Expo meeting centre in the beautiful city of Lisbon.

Conference format

The conference is organised around four general themes:

  • Addictions: a multi-disciplinary perspective
  • Translating research into policy and practice
  • New frontiers in addiction research
  • Challenges of addiction in an interconnected world

Together with papers and rapid communications, each theme will be represented by one plenary session (keynote speech or roundtable) that will be designed for a multi-disciplinary audience on a topical issue. In addition, open paper sessions will accommodate papers that do not necessarily fit within these four themes.

To promote networking, conference rooms will be available for group meetings and small satellite meetings. If interested please contact us at: [email protected]
